Why Site Preparation Determines Success
The number one reason sod installations fail is skipped or inadequate site preparation. Sod laid over compacted soil, debris, or old grass can't make root contact — and without root contact, the sod dries out and dies within weeks regardless of how much you water it.
Our process: remove existing turf completely, till the soil to 4-6 inches, amend with topsoil and organic material if needed, grade for proper drainage (always sloping away from the house), and final-rake to a smooth surface 1 inch below adjacent hardscape.
